Pratyahara-Calm Your Senses
Time & Location
About the event
We live in a busy world. We consume 7x more information today than we did 30 years ago - this amount keeps rising exponentially, and you may have noticed stress and anxiety rising alongside it, worth mentioning that the COVID-19 pandemic made it worse, with online classes, work from home, etc.
How to balance out this amount of unavoidable damage?
The yogic practice of Pratyahara or withdrawal of the senses is the unique answer for this.
Our senses are like open doorways, taking in the information that we see, hear, touch, smell, and taste. In this 2 hour workshop with Vani and Sarah, we will experience various traditional Indian and Chinese practices that allow us to turn our senses inwards to our inner world, giving us a break from the constant bombardment of the world around us.
This practice will begin with a Qi Gong practice with guest teacher Sarah Divine. In Qi Gong, a Chinese practice of moving and balancing energy, the moving of awareness inwards is called Ting Jing. We continue this gentle movement with some yogic practices to focus on pratyahara and then slide into a Yoga Nidra.
Please bring a yoga mat, a blanket, wear comfy clothes, and any other props you feel might enhance your ability to relax. This is a practice for people of all abilities and experiences. If you have injuries or conditions that you feel might impact your ability to enjoy the workshop, please contact us to find out what assistance we can offer.
